Tutorial goal:

In this tutorial i will explain to you how to create an action that will upsize your images to Poster size with very little loss of quality. In Photoshop, you can only do this by enlarging 10% at a time, hence this action which will save you time.

Next

step 3

Then

step 4

And finally

step 5

You might think that it would be easier to skip the 10% increases and just type in the total size in one go, but that wont work. It will come out all blurry. This is the only way to upsize your picture in Photoshop with minimal Quality loss.

avatar freejayIm not sure if theres a difference........but you will get slight quality loss either way so make
sure you use high res pics in the 1st place.
Monty is probablly going to introduce tshirts, mugs, posters etc. soon on this site so i believe
this tutorial will be very handy to alot of people to get their pics to the right size for
submission.

no avatarThanks the tut is clear and easy to followI. I've 2 questions; does it make a difference if you
crop first and then blow it up or if you blow the image up and then crop? Also, how does this
technique compare to plugins like Genuine Fractals, which has been getting great reviews?

freejay [lvl 31] [vp 1000] [vote medals 222]:
avatar freejayI don't think it would make a difference if you crop before or after because you are resizing in
percentage. Regarding Genuine Fractals, ive never used it, so i cant say anything except why pay for
something if you can create your own action that works similar.
